THE OPPORTUNITY
It takes fewer environmental resources to consume plant-based foods than to consume animal products, but these latter are often seen as a more nutritious choice. We saw an opportunity to raise the profile of plant-based foods through an appealing and realistic meat alternative.
THE BIG IDEA
We launched Sundial Foods to develop a meat-like wing that is better for the environment and better for you. In partnership with Nestlé, we’ve brought our plant-based meat alternatives to market.
HOW NESTLÉ HELPED
As a part of the Nestlé R+D Accelerator, we developed and launched our plant-based wings in a retail environment, starting with a shop test in Switzerland. With Nestlé, we were able to scale our business and accelerate our production timeline.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Health-conscious consumers need a satisfying, healthier alternative to sugary drinks.
THE BIG IDEA
We developed, a naturally sweet, fermented water made from birch sap, to satisfy this need. Birch sap has been a folk medicine staple in Estonia for centuries thanks to its ability to alleviate fatigue, stress, and headaches. Minerals like potassium, zinc, manganese, and amino acids give it incredible electrolyte replacement qualities.
HOW NESTLÉ HELPED
Working with Nestlé, we increased production of our water for the shop test, where we sold 15% more product than we expected. The Nestlé R+D Accelerator enabled us to perfect and produce five water recipes, and gave us a better understanding of the Swiss market and consumers.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Plastic waste that accumulates in landfills and oceans is one of the most pressing environmental issues of this time. Tackling the plastic challenge is a priority.
THE BIG IDEA
B'ZEOS is combating the impact of plastics on the environment by using seaweed as an alternative form of packaging. In collaboration with Nestlé, we developed a bio-based, flexible packaging made from sustainably sourced seaweed for food applications. These home compostable wrappers were constructed through green manufacturing processes without harsh or toxic chemicals.
HOW NESTLÉ HELPED
The Nestlé R+D Accelerator gave us access to state-of-the-art facilities, mentoring and a network of experts. This enabled us to further develop the formulation of our seaweed material and test technical feasibility for food packaging applications at bench and pilot scale, and to improve our manufacturing process. It gave us invaluable insights into our communications strategy, helping us share our story with the world.
